Mari Fujii-Pratt

In recent years the conversation in between paintings (Fujii-Pratt refers to them as painting-beings) in her studio space has become a more conscious element of the creative process. How pictorial space interacts with physical space and plays with different planes of the thinking process. How the perspective of time and visual sensitivity shift.

Fujii-Pratt expands on the idea of ‘in-between’. Time, space, language, thoughts, paintings, acts of painting, geographical belonging and all that comes with it without us knowing, how your dimension of thoughts is held in your cognitive space. She explores and holds the plane of thoughts via the process of painting. Painting for Fujii-Pratt has become an act of activation to provoke our hidden senses to open.
