Paaras Abbas

Paaras Abbas is a multidisciplinary creative; a textile artist and medical anthropologist whose work examines themes of repair, rootedness and social justice, through ethnographic storytelling, printmaking and needlework. Her practice is an ongoing exploration of the regenerative potential of traditional craft as a response to climate emergency. She uses reclaimed fabric and processes natural dyes from food waste, homegrown and foraged plants, to create original lino prints, block prints and patchwork collage artworks.

Paaras’ practice is socially-engaged, and she is experienced in facilitating natural dye, blockprint, and creative needlework workshops for a range of audiences, independently and through organisations including the British Library, Rich Mix London, The Horniman Museum and Gardens, South London and Maudsley NHS Trust, and Sunnyjar eco hub.
