Henry Hoffman is a multidisciplinary artist based in London. His work explores the exoteric fractal traces of memory  — elements he sees as vital in contemporary life. Often centering on materiality, his recent work mainly extracts beauty from aged, repurposed materials. Fascinated by objects with past lives, Henry recontextualizes the old to suggest nothing is ever truly new. Like antiques or traditional craftsmanship, his practice highlights the emotional depth of weathered materials, granting them renewed sense of significance and presence. Whether it is with found fabric, wood or directly distressing the paint itself, showing the trace of something that once was, as a rejection that everything should be clear, obvious and concise in the modern world.
