Isabel Garfield
Isabel Garfield graduated in Fine Art from the University of Newcastle in 2018, and has since completed The Drawing Year at The Royal Drawing School in 2022. In her work she looks at the way memories and dreams function and connect to our everyday lived experiences. She is interested in what constitutes a real, waking space and how this can be a weave of both fiction and reality. She works across painting, drawing and installation.
The imagery in her work merges colour, pattern, objects and the remembered frames and shadows of interiors. She has been looking at interior and exterior spaces and the middle ground between these. Through using a combination of paint and pastels in transparent layers she has been playing with the shadows found in spaces and with the idea of trying to remember something entirely.
